
Lisa Curtin, Ed.D.

Dr. Lisa Curtin is the Executive Director of Military and Government Education at San Diego Community College District. Dr. Curtin has been in her current position since 2003 and has witnessed the growth in her program from 15 to 28 military and government sites across the United States providing training for the Navy, Army, and Federal Prisons. She began her career in special education in Florida and has been involved in education and training in some capacity since that time. Dr. Curtin was Dean of Students and Deputy Associate Provost for Academic Affairs at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, CA. While on active duty, she was also the Director of the Naval Academy Character Education Center and faculty in the History Department. Before being stationed at the Naval Academy and while still on active duty, she was an adjunct professor with Troy State University and research associate with Old Dominion University. Dr. Curtin currently serves as an advisory member of the State of California’s Troops to Teachers program.
Dr. Curtin graduated with a BS in Special Education from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA. She earned a Masters of Science in Educational Administration from Troy State University in Pensacola, FL and a Doctorate of Education from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Blacksburg, VA. In addition, she has received several Post Masters certificates in management and advanced studies. Dr. Curtin was the 1997 Navy Fellow in Education and Training and has been recognized with medals and awards on a number of occasions for her outstanding work with the Navy’s Education and Training, Navy recruiting, and government personnel administration.
Dr. Curtin is married to Stan Cwiklinski, a retired Navy Special Operations Officer. Their daughter Stacia is a graduate of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy and is a jet pilot serving on active duty with the Coast Guard in Florida.
